Not sure if it will work on W7, but on my XP system I've got various USB's and an external hard drive assigned to folders in My Documents so that scripts I've written for various back up activities don't need to be edited every time Windows allocates a different drive letter. I just use the folder location and this automatically points to the drive I want to access. The folders on the drive appear as sub-folders in the folder created on My Documents. You may be able to use that method to access your external drive through the Folder Options button. It is explained on ghacks.net in this link. It is targeted at USB's but works for my external (USB) HDD as well (and has done for 2 or 3 years now). Usual disclaimers about "at your own risk" etc. but I've had no problems thus far. Edit: Don't think it will work for a network drive. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 29/07/2013 at 20:46 by postal Log in to reply |
