hi there is there anyone on here able to help me. i am traveling to Manchester Piccadilly on Friday 13th September from Bournemouth. was wondering if anyone knows if the train is a 4 car voyager or a 5 car voyager and does anyone know where i could get the voyager diagrams. Log in to reply |

why does it matter? you won't get a seat or a decent meal, and the toilets will permanently numb your sense of smell either way

The prospect of having to travel on a Voyager was one of the driving forces behind me passing my test and buying a car.

Usually 4 car, but there are some 5 cars diagrammed. Depends exactly when you're travelling

yeah i now they are uncomfortable and the toilets well enough said on them.... it would be the 16:45 from Bournemouth. 1M66. i know i won't get a seat but it would be nice to know if it is a 4 car or 5 car. (sometimes the trains are double units but not often) but if a five car might have a half chance to get a seat.

Cross Country also offer Ten minute reservations If you are lucky and get a 5 coach voyager I've read that coach 'B' (next to first class) should be un-reserved. Otherwise your best chance of getting a seat is find out where on the platform the train will stop. Look for white on black markers showing VT/XC/220/221 and 4/5/STOP. The train is due to park in the middle siding so you can see which end first class it and avoid that. Then find the least congested part of the platform that will be near a door. The cost of travelling via London is only ~£3 more with a similar journey time. Good luck, Peter. It was better in the good ol' days when you had a choice of 7 or 8 coaches to sit in. Why Virgin decided to run shorter trains has always baffled me.

Are you referring to a Cl.47/8 with 7 Mk.2fs or XC HST? Personally I think it was better when you had 9+ coaches with a variety of proper locos working the XC services, rather than the rubbish running around the network these days. Log in to reply |

Travelled back from Birmingham to Wigan on a Virgin Voyager...Lovely trains :sick: ...Though must say a BIG positive is Virgins Tilting ale...made the journey much more bearable...
