Hello All, I have some questions here guys, about ECML, in specific. How does the scheme of opening and closing times of the stations in ECML works? (no ticket opening/closing times), I don't know if the stations are open 24 hours. I have this doubt because in the "Network Rail website" they tells the time of start/end of operation (King's Cross). Cheers, Thiago. :cheer: Log in to reply |

King's Cross, AFAIUI, certainly does have a closing time, which is usually after the last booked passenger service has departed. Can certainly recall having previously seen signage at the station effectively advising of this. Finsbury Park may also have a certain closing time too. That said though, there is the late night service between King's Cross (01:36) and Peterborough (arriving 03:16) and then one in the opposite direction early morning (03:25); arriving at King's Cross at 5am, Other stations, such as Harringay, Hornsey, Alexandra Palace, New Southgate, etc., may just be left open 24/7 - certainly either Harringay and/or Hornsey has a 'side access gate' which is always left open when the ticket office (normal entry/exit route) is closed. I don't think New Southgate can close (or would be closed anyway, as the footbridge sort-of acts as a footpath across the railway), as I cannot recall a way to block off the platforms - I believe the same goes for Oakleigh Park, New Barnet, and Hadley Wood too. Potters Bar can probably be closed off after the last passenger train has departed. It's been a good while since I've been there, but Brookmans Park again probably doesn't have a way to close it off either; the same goes for Welham Green. Hatfield may be able to close off, but again they may only close the ticket office entrance/exit and leave a 'side access gate' open. I believe that, again, the footbridge at Welwyn Garden City acts as a footpath across the railway, so isn't closed off in the sense of the word - the same probably goes for Welwyn North too. Knebworth has a side access gate open for when the ticket office is closed, but I don't know if they ever do close that or not. Stevenage; again probably a footpath across railway via the footbridge there. *stopping now before I cover the whole ECML* Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. just to add Peterborough technically closes after the last Leeds (0018 1D36) has departed however a Dispatcher and a Security Guard stay on all night to let(any)passengers out of the station who come off the silly o'clock First Capital Connect services
