Red For Danger

Sorry if this has been asked before, but there does not seem to be any mention on the wiki / forum of this problem. I have just been getting used to Carlisle 2009 timetable v1.5 - All works fine on beginner mode, but on difficult mode, several of the seeded trains travel at 1mph and don't want to go any faster. They are all class 6XXX freights, travelling on the up line, just north of Tebay. Got to 00:40 now and they are still at 1mph! Tried to operate the 79-80 timetable as an alternative, and had the same problem, but this time with the down trains at the same location. I have even un-installed and re-installed the sim to see if this clears the problem but to no avail. Anybody got any suggestions on how to fix / overcome this ....? Log in to reply |

An update on the problem above. It seems that any train starting from a standstill from signal 122 heading South has the same problem. They crawl for a few track sections to Tebay and then set off at normal speed. Every train will suffer with this as sooner or later they will come to sig 122 at red while the train infront crawls at 1mph. When sig 122 clears to the next aspect, the train waiting will then do exactly the same thing, resulting in a considerable queue at 122. Not sure if it is something to do with the gradients, but I still can't seem to figure out what to do to get over this one. Log in to reply |

I think there's a major bug with the gradients on Carlisle, causing trains to travel too slowly. I can't think why the difficulty level is affected though, unless Difficult includes Bad Weather.

I know this isn't much help but if you make a train SPAD using the incident control panel in the Shap/Tebay area it'll just plod along at 1mph.

The speed of which depends on the trains location. Barry Barry, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Log in to reply |

Unfortunately the performance of trains climbing the gradients has been the biggest headache for me on this project. I wasn't aware specifically of trains going at 1mph, so that's new to me. A cheeky workaround for the frieghts would be to change the traction class to be similar to a passenger train which should make their performance a bit more respectable. Carlisle is due a re-release in the hopefully not to distant future (other things are having to take priority right now) Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Banners88 |
