not sure where to put this but i am a bit confused, relatively new to SimSig really. What am i meant to do with 5G72, it says its in platform 1 at buffer end and as it says carriage sidings i am guessing it goes into them again, however it just came from carriage sidings at bedford when i brought the previous service out of the sidings to plat 1. also it does not show a headcode nor red where the train would be. maybe i am just being fundamentally thick but i am too close to the problem to see what I've done wrong.
many thanks
callum

1G72 arrives in platform 1 at Bedford at 24.06 and forms 5G72 24+14 to the carriage washer.

5G72 then comes back out of the carriage washer into a platform of your choice.

Then, once the shunter is ready for it, 5G72 goes into the carriage sidings.

Except if you put it in platform 1A, when it doesn't automatically change direction. Nor does the shunter always call.

if its more than four cars long (havent got the sim to hand to check) then it won't fit in P1A and hence will never "arrive" at bedford station.

Quite right - even though 8 cars will happily fit behind one of the shunt signals!

However, it was mentioned elsewhere that 377s are banned from the bay platform.

This is where a driver in reality would challenge the road for being overlength, but I do not think this is possible in the current SimSig code?

It is - it's used in KX for the overlength indicators (though used to light said indicator rather than challenge the route).

And in Wembley Suburban drivers phone in if their train is too long for the bay at Willesden Junction.
Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

I had assumed that it was custom code that allowed that to occur after a conversation with someone about something else similar.

You may well be right for Wembley Sub. These days it can be done in data but does have to be explicitly written (in data).

And explicitly written for each situation; it's not a one-size-fits-all thing.
