I found it difficult to identify railway lines unless one starts with an area I know and figure out which lines represent railways. In Mapnik (OpenStreetMap) at high magnifications, railways are grey strips containing white dashes. Elsewhere they are black lines though in OSStreetView stations at high magnifications are yellow blocks marked "Station" or equivalent. What I can't work out is where the scale of the current magnification is displayed, if indeed it is at all. Can anyone help me on this? Otherwise the maps are not very useful for planning layouts. Thanks welshdragon. Anyone know why the map has two sets of navigation and zoom controls, one below the other, or could this be just a temporary bug? (added) Its URL includes the word beta,so it's probably not quite ready yet. Anyway, I've added it to our Signalling Links Wiki before it gets forgotten.
