It looks like Joomla has some problems handling plus signs in email addresses. Even though I'd like to point out that plus signs are a legal part of an e-mail address, I've gotten used to the fact that a number of pages won't accept them. The strange thing here however is that I'm able to enter an e-mail address containing a plus sign on my profile page without any problems or error messages, however afterwards
If you could get the Joomla people to look into it, so that either

Googling it, it would seem Joomla has been able to cope with them for a year or two now, and we're on a version that is later than that in which it was fixed/implemented. I'll have to look into it a bit more. It's possible it's a third party component that is stopping Joomla.
