Just been out to the usual Sunday morning farmers market at Alley Pally and took a walk up to the Palace building. Always intrigued as to what is left of the short branch that went in there from Highgate and Muswell Hill which closed back in 1957 but sadly very little remains. The old station building does have a little bit left but the platform and tracks are now part of the car park. Looking back on the Wiki when I got back and see that within two weeks of the station opening the Palace had a big fire and they closed the station within two months of it opening until the Palace was rebuilt. This must be the shortest time for any station in the UK to remain open for before closing? Unless you know otherwise. Log in to reply |
