Living near EXD, I've noticed that some First Great Western employees have been delegated on cone duty. This role seems to involve picking up a cone and moving it five feet to allow a coach, bus or taxi through. This is done in the presence of at least two other officials, who observe the cone operator and ensure that he moves the cone within given tolerances. On odd occasions they will comment to the cone operator "you can let this one through". These cone operators seem to work prolonged hours, but I notice their absence between 2300 and 0600 hours. In their absence cars go down the coach lane, and there is absolute turmoil. It's only a small miracle that a coach hasn't ended up in the short stay car park, or on the station platform. My question is, what is the cone operators official title? I was thinking something along the lines of "Dynamic Traffic Management Officer", or "Person in Charge of Cone Possession".
