Nothing major, just a few odds and ends I've come across:

  • Speed classes have gotten mixed up a bit, as various trains (ECML Class91+MkIV sets, Scotrail DMUs, freight trains) are erroneously marked EPS-E.

  • Shouldn't 6E84-A and 6E84-B be mutually exclusive?

  • Misspelling of Felixstowe on 4L89

  • Suggestion: add rules for the Motherwell - Cumbernauld trains, so the return working doesn't enter before the previous working has left the area (especially as it's just one unit shuttling back and forth)

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

  • Add 6S43-A and 6S54 to the mutually exclusive list as well.

Thanks for those. Some of them had already been spotted and corrected but there are some new ones there. Which version of the TT is showing the Train Types errors? I have had a quick look and I haven't found anything as EPS-E in the full day version of v4.1.1 on my system so there may be something adrift here.

The released version is v4.1.0, so maybe it's already been fixed.
Regarding the speed classes, in some cases only the individual trains themselves are affected, while the train type is showing correctly.
E.g. 5J96 has EPS-E ticked, while it's train type (DMU S (75mph)) doesn't show anything strange there. The same applies for the freight trains or the Class91+Mk4 sets.
On the other hand, the Lowland sleeper has EPS-E ticked both in the timetable and in its train type.

Thanks to you (and to Sloppyjag). I've got v4.1.1 because I had already started amending some of the errors you and Sloppyjag have identified even before v4.1.0 was released. As you and Sloppyjag are finding more little tweaks, I'm now on to v4.1.2 which will appear in the Downloads section in due course.

Anything ticked in the Train Type should carry over into the individual train TT (and I always believed that if anything was changed in an individual train TT, the type would revert to Custom but that doesn't seem to hold here). I'll correct as many as I find but that still leaves the probability that I miss some so please keep the reports coming.

EPS-E should be Pendolino's only and EPS-D Voyagers (not sure if it's all or only the tilting ones). It only matters in short bursts South of Carstairs where there are differential speeds for these. Think that needs added to the manual.

EPS-D is for tilting Voyagers only, i.e. Class 221s operated by Virgin Trains. Class 220s can't tilt, and Arriva disabled the tilt mechanism on their 221s when they took over XC.

So the XC Voyagers would presumably be classified as HST?

Curiously enough, there also seems to be a short stretch of HST and EPS speeds between Shieldmuir and Motherwell, but only in the Down direction.
Re Voyagers, correct, it's also reflected in the wiki.

On a sidenote and out of curiosity, what kind of train is 4Z15 that it can run at only 35 mph?

Hopefully this is the right TT I'm about to talk about.

    The 2006 TT Version 4.4 build 2.

We have trains (ECS) entering from Motherwell North sidings.

This is totally closed and not in use at this time. overgrown, track missing. Any ECS movements came from the Weighs and derby sidings.

Normally, the three DMU ECS were stabled on the HGL itself, and the EMUs used the two weighs sidings.

Data about the use of the North Sdgs was taken from the 11 June to 09 December 2006 WTTs (GA01). The units are shown as coming out of/going back into Motherwell Bridge Sdgs. I took a punt that the Motherwell Bridge Sdgs were another name for the North Sdgs as those sidings would be just outside the Motherwell Bridge & Engineering works.

If that information is incorrect, any idea where the WTT location Motherwell Bridge Sdgs would be?

    Hello,

Done some asking about to make sure that the following is correct.

The bridge sidings are the North sidings. They were disconnected from the mainline when Lesmhagow Junction was relaid around 2004/2005.
The former LWR welding plant sidings were still in situ. These sidings were still connected with entry and exit controlled by the Motherwell panel.

None of these however, have been used for Pax rolling stock stabling. The only two places were the Derby sidings, Weighs and the use of the HGL, the latter again used for the DMU stabling.

When I started to pick up my trains in 2010, it was still the HLG for the DMUs Until the back of shops (roads behind Motherwell TMD opened for SR stabling around 2012/13.

Present day, 3 locations now used at Motherwell are the Weighs for 3 or 4 sets(1 DMU and 2/3 EMUs), Derby sidings and Back of shops (TMD)

    hope this helps.

    Craig

    Thanks, Craig.

No immediate prospect of a TT revision because of the backlog that is already piled up. I am in the middle of aligning all of James Roberts' 2006 McSim TTs so that they trains crossing from one sim to another match correctly. Paisley, Motherwell, Cathcart, done so far along with Edinburgh for a future .sim release; CScot/NEScot still to do. I'll try and correct the Motherwell stabling before the whole batch is re-released.

Suggestion: add a rule for 4H44 so it doesn't enter before 0H44-1 - as 0H44-1 has to pull it out of the Euroterminal.

That wouldn't make sense as a rule because you don't want 4H44 to enter until after 0H44-1 has got to the Euroterminal and coupled on. That is why there is a rule in the TT that 4H44 must not enter until 5 minutes after 0H44-1 has left the area.

Yes that is the rule that I imagined, and I now see it indeed exists already. However 4H44 did enter while 0H44-1 was still in the area when I just ran this TT, so the rule does not appear to be working as intended.

Edit: I see why the rule does not work, 4H44 has to be 4H44-1.

Thanks for the spot. It will be amended in the next release of the TT.
