A few issues joining trains 19/03/2014 at 23:28 #57401

Hello,

What an absolutely brilliant sim! Helps bring the many journeys through New Street to memory and provides an interesting insight into how we got there.

However, one or two issues. Chiefly, I've got till the late night, and I have trains 1G78 and 2H68 on platform 4 where they are meant to join and they are refusing to talk to one another, despite much reversing, shunting and ensuring timetable is stepped up. I have the same issue on platform 2 with 1G00 and 1M62. Could someone shed some light?

Can you post a save of the game.....might be easier to diagnose.

Are both in the same half of the platform? They won't join if one is in the A end and the other is in the B end. Set a route from the mid-platform signal to the end if necessary (it doesn't matter if both platform tracks are occupied as it's last wheel replaced).

Chris, see if you can join the trains shown in F2 of the attached save.

Ahh! Found the problem. The centre platform signals reset and cleared resulted in a join.

You mean like this?

I ran 2H68 in to P4 BUT I cleared the original route which is still active (the stem of the mid-platform signal is still white) and then reset the route from the mid-platform signal to the end of platform signal. The train ran into the platform ran down the length of the platform and right up tot he back of 1G78-L where it stopped and immediately started to join. That's where I saved the game.

Alex, 1G78 needs to be stopped at signal 174.You need to clear signal 204 for 2H68 to move behind 1G78 and it will join. Watch that 5G62 does not run early as it also joins 1G78.

Guys thanks so much for the replies. I'm on the world's worst internet connection at the moment while I'm travelling.

Here is a save, I really cannot make it happen!

I ran the trains in as you would expect, they received a yellow aspect at the signal before the platform with the route already cleared as a calling on aspect on the platform signal.

Thanks!

I've had no other problems joining at all

That's odd. Any ideas where the sim is hiding?

The zip file is corrupt. I'm not entirely clear whether you solved the problem or not?!

I've been on a plane for 13 hours, my apologies.

I have not solved the problem, and it's quite worrying that the file is corrupt. I have been in some of the less reputable parts of the world in the last few months.

In fact, thread now irrelevant. The file is totally shot.
