Hi all,

I am a french student in rail engineering and a Simsig signaller for a long time now, and I am looking to find a summer placement in a signalling centre in England (London would be awesome because I lived here for a long time), but I don't know where to start...

I have already done a one month placement in a high speed line signalling centre in France two years ago and loved it ! I have attached a photo to give you an insight of how it looks like.

I would be grateful I you could help me find it or just give me some directions or piece of advice !

Thanks in advance !

I don't know if temporary placements are possible in UK signalling centres. No harm in asking Network Rail, of course.

You could try www.trerail.co.uk who produce signalling simulations for the industry. They have certainly had summer placements in past years. Disclaimer: I used to work for them.

I have never heard of a summer placement within a signal box. I have no idea who you would ask.

But the thing is I don't know how to contact them. Their website is so vast (and sooo slow too) ! I would just need the mail adress of a signalbox manager so I can send him a request...

Well thank you but my placement would be for only one or two months as a way for me to "discover the professional world"...

Anyway I just applied to Eurotunnel and two signalboxes in Paris...

Thanks again for your help really appreciated ! And sorry for the late response !
