If you look at Clives manual they are explained in there. Removing them would probably cause the timetable to be unworkable. Log in to reply |

Signal 65 on the Up Fast (Last main aspect signal before Euston station. To set a route into platform 7 : Click signal 65 Follow the line towards platform 7 You'll see via button J Click it Then continue along the line towards platform 7 Then click the platform exit arrow. Generally all you need to do is click each via button you come to along the route. To set routes in and out of Euston, you need to click the entry signal, then any via buttons which are on the line of the route, then the exit signal. For example, to set a route from the Up Fast to Platform 7, click the entry signal (65). Then trace the route the train needs to take with your mouse, and click any via buttons which are on that route- in this case J. Then click the exit triangle by Platform 7. Alternatively, you could get the train to follow a different path by instead clicking N, K and D. Note that not every route allowed by the tackwork is possible- you can't, for example, route via M, K and D. A list of allowed routes is in the manual. EDIT: Stephen and Headshot posted while I was typing. "Don't stress/ relax/ let life roll off your backs./ Except for death and paying taxes/ everything in life.../ is only for now." As Stephen said on Clive's website (the location of the manual for Euston) there is the route tables showing what the options are. The via buttons are present because of the large amount of different routing options through the station throat.

The real signallers (at least one of whom posts here) had to work with them, and you get used to them quickly enough. Log in to reply |

Euston is my 2nd favourite Sim after Carlisle. Log in to reply |

I can confirm this to be true. I always like playing the 1980 TT, especially with closed platforms or heavy delays (or both!) Because the sim is so busy, it only takes an hour or so to learn which buttons you need to press. Log in to reply |

As others have have said it usually just takes practise to get the hang of them, I found the table in Clive's manual invaluable though - and still refer to it on occasions.

Yes. It's a very fun sim, please do take the time/effort to learn how to use the via buttons effectively. It's well worth it!
