Are there any ideas or intentions of simulating the Basingstoke signalling area.
With an area from south of Reading in the north to whitchurch to the south, Sturt Lane (east of Farnborough)to the east and possibly Salisbury in the west it would cover a fair area.
Passenger traffic from Waterloo to the south and west, and cross-country trains from the north plus a lot of freight trains going in all directions would provide a lot of interest.

I notice that it does not appear in the list of disallowed areas.

I believe this has been requested a few times a while back. I would certainly be in favour of increasing the coverage of the South Western area. It would certainly have the potential to be a rather large sim - depending on which era is simulated, the extent of control could extend all the way to Honiton and Weymouth. Currently, Basingstoke controls the area from East of Farnborough as you say, to Grateley, with a hole at Salisbury controlled by Salisbury, then controlling west of Tisbury to Exeter. Control of Salisbury is due to transfer to Basingstoke in the relatively near future. On the other branch, it extends to just west of Worting Junction, with a large hole controlled by Eastleigh as far as Ashurst (New Forest), then regains control towards Weymouth (I don't recall if it goes all the way to Weymouth or if the latter is controlled from some Western region box). Control of the current Eastleigh area (West of Worting to Ashurst (New Forest), Fareham, Mottisfont & Dunbridge, and Romsey to Eastleigh) is going to transfer to Basingstoke in the slightly more distant but still relatively near future.

Having holes in the sim wouldn't necessarily be a good idea (though it isn't too bad in Marylebone, there's still the option of removing the hole), so it might be useful to break up the sim into smaller areas (have, say, a Basingstoke sim controlling just the Basingstoke to Worting/Grateley area, then a West of England sim with Salisbury to Honiton, an Eastleigh sim with the same area as the real (current) Eastleigh and a South Western sim controlling Ashurst to Weymouth - that's just an example, there might well be better (more fun) ways of breaking it up).

Basingstoke ASC has 3 panels, signalled by 6 signallers (2 for each). Just so the signaller can be relieved.

The main new side controls from Deepcut TP. nr Brookwood to just beyond Battledown flyover and Grateley. The box also controls as far as Grazeley UWC and a little more beyond.

Poole panel controls from Parkstone to nr. Moreton.

West of England panel controls from Exmouth Junction fringe to Tisbury. Where Sailsbury takes over.

Source: Pictures from my visit a few days ago.

I am making a diagram for these panels in a few weeks so look forward to seeing it.

or alternatively theres Basingstoke PSB which has (had?) two panels, 1 from Farnborough - Basingstoke, and the other from Basingstoke - Battledown Flyover and the Salisbury lines.

This is something I'd definitively like to see. Would be pretty much the missing link in the Western region (this would chain with, if the preceeding descriptions are right, Exeter (Exmouth Jn), Oxford (Moreton) and Salisbury). It could also be possible to include the line from Yeovil Pen Mill (chains with Westbury), and the section that is, at least according to the PDF version of the sectional appendix, controlled by Dorchester South SB (supposedly an NX panel)

No idea. Not as far as I know although I did once do a non-fuctioning mock-up of the Salisbury to Exeter section based on photos from http://photos.signalling.org/index?/category/31-west_of_england_panel

It may appear one day.
