Sadly there will not be a November meet this year. We have had a number of issues getting previous venues to commit to anything and thus can't plan on that basis. While there could be alternative known venues, there is also the problem of getting experienced meet organisers to have matching availability. So rather than risk a disastrous meet we're going to re-think this one. This does, however, give us an opportunity to decide exactly what we want in a meet. Normally we charge an entrance fee: the vast majority of this covers the buffet costs and/or any room hire fees. Would people prefer free entry but buy food themselves? Note that this is not always an option: some pubs simply don't have the kitchen space or staff for 20-30 people ordering individual dishes at once; other venues levy a room hire fee if no buffet is ordered. Would two meets a year be better than three? Would different months be preferred (generally March, July, and November)? Please let us know your thoughts. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

Irritating, I was looking forwards to finally meeting people (since I couldn't make July and wasn't active on the forum before then). Fair enough, though, I understand if you're having problems. Since I haven't yet been to a meet, I don't really feel I can comment on anything else. I'm happy to pay an entrance fee, but would also be happy to buy my own food. Log in to reply |

Could we perhaps have an 'unofficial' meet? It would need to be in the South to be viable for me, but if it isn't frowned upon, I'd be happy to help set one up. Username TIM in multiplayer Log in to reply |

I havent been to a meet for 2 years but have enjoyed the London meets I would be interested in a meet and greet over a few beers and good old chin wag about SimSig and railway issues. This is just me expressing a positive opinion of mine and its open to debate I look forward to reading other members thoughts and opinions London pubs are always good for me even London mainline stations could be a good place to meet Last edited: 03/09/2014 at 19:58 by jimgos2005 Reason: needed to put extra comments Log in to reply |

There was talk of a Dublin meet once, after I investigated the logistics of getting to Dublin we (my family) decided to visit one half term. My wife's best friend from school lives in Christchurch....... Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |
