According to the VT Lancaster team on Twitter, a train was cancelled at Lancaster last week for a 'continuous horn'

" said:According to the VT Lancaster team on Twitter, a train was cancelled at Lancaster last week for a 'continuous horn' :lol:You may laugh, but once I failed one of my own trains for that very reason. The horn stuck on, and I had to isolate it. We tipped out at the next station, and then it was a maximum speed of 20mph for 18 miles ... Last edited: 28/09/2014 at 21:08 by lazzer Log in to reply |

Oh, I know it is a real reason - it's the reporting of it that tickled me!

When I was on nights at BHM once, a train was announced as cancelled due to "lack of interest" on both the station and on board PAs. :doh

We once posed a highly eccentric guard for a photo in the back window of a 158 with the destination blind reading "Mystery Tour".

There was a case like this reported in the ScotRail Control Log in the 1980s. Footie match between Hibs and Dundee was abandoned, and it was free admission to the replay. The AM at Dundee put a special on for it, but only three people turned up for it. Special CAPEd, pax forward on service train.

Another delay reason reported on Anglia Gen Train delayed by cows on the line between Cantley and Reedham. Fair enough you might think, but they were on the phone not the track ! They had knocked over the crossing phone and the signaller had a lot of moo-ing ! Log in to reply |

Perhaps the quality of metal used in the telephone posts needs beefing up a bit.
