It would be handy if you could turn on/off TRS at stations
this would be very handy for alternative timetables. terminating trains etc so you dont get caught out

The thing is, the TRTS exists only where it does in real life. When real signallers terminate trains in unusual places they don't have TRTS.

Having said that, in such a situation, would there be some other method of notification (eg driver phoning the signaller as soon as they are ready rather than after two minutes/whatever?)

yes, some sort of system when trains indicate they are ready rather than calling in after 2 mins of waiting at the red
also, TRTS used to be on most main stations. but its been taken out of the sims as its been phased out.
but that then doesnt work for older timetables eg a 1970's timetable on a V4 sim.
i noticed it used to be on a lot of the old sims but now has gone. would be a nice feature to just turn on and off

To take West Hampstead as an Example (given the location of TRTS Plungers hasn't really changed since commissioning).
TRTS is provided at Moorgate, St. Pancras, Luton and Bedford. all main stations which warrant it. where else would you add it?

Equally the track layout in a lot of cases won't match a 1970's timetable.

NWC, NEWales, New St, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Portsmouth, Wembley Mainline, West Hampstead, Victoria Central and South Eastern. all have TRTS provided, all are recent loader only sims.

I think that it's fairly prototypical that at locations without TRTS the Signalman can safely assume that the train would be ready to leave at the booked time, unless someone calls him to advise differently.

westH seems to have quite a few of them.

take GWR for example

it would be good to be able to turn them on/off at swindon / didcot / bristol PW / bath / temple meads / newbury / westbury / you know principle stations

OR

perhaps a "ding" notification if train ready to go and the sig is not off, handy for freights etc, think that might be a wish list already

Drivers should call in from Barnstaple when ready to depart (or something, can't recall exactly what I made it do).

Not clear to me why you want to do that, is it because you find it annoying or because it's new thing and in earlier eras there was no TRTS?
If the latter then, without checking the detail, I think the author can enable/disable TRTS as part of the era set-up package. Clearly if there is only one era that's less likely though it should be possible to make it a stand-alone launch option.

The only request I can find is for variable TRTS so the developer can set the time for TRTS relative to the departure time - primarily for Exeter UP trains (and I mean UP GW trains before we start a debate about which way is Up - again).

The calling in Barnstaple thing would work great for freights in sidings and relieving points wouldn't it?

The enable TRTS option is also handy for SimSigers who are controlling the whole box as you tend to forget about terminating trains etc as you are concentrating on another screen

You can turn off the TRTS sound by disabling "Trains ready to start" in F3, Messages.

would RA be included in sims as most WCML services use this rather than TRTS or is this a totally different thing

"RA" is totally different and indicates to the driver that he may start his train after the completion of station duties. It is not indicated to the signaler.

See this post for an explanation of TRTS, RA and dispatch procedure.
