This text is hidden because you are not logged in.

Shame it doesn't allow you to just download the PDF.

I clicked on print and I have a printer option to "save as pdf" - in the past I've used the "Microsoft XPS document writer" which creates a file akin to pdf.

In that case it makes it useless to have a prevent download feature!

If you can't download it, there's not much point uploading it in the first place.

What is the point of sharing something publically and not being prepared to allow people to download it? Are we not trustworthy enough?

Just saying...

Sorry guys, I am in the business of making people wait!

Especially as it does not seem possible to zoom to a resolution that's of any use.

Dan,

Is this the diagram in which I found 70-something errors?

Seriously, get it right.

Juat going to say that if you want to prevent downloads, sharing files on a Cloud server isn't the best idea, as it's so easy to open the file in your own PDF viewer and save a copy.

Downloaded fine for me too.

ETA: While the Google thing supposedly prevents downloading, doing one very simple and public action causes it to download in order to achieve that action. No underhand tactics, hacking, or anything else questionable required. Very bizarre and somewhat defeats the object of that "do not download" field!

And the very act of viewing it downloads it to your computer anyway - so the only way to stop people from saving the data is to make it totally inaccessible!

Yeah - you may as well give up if you want some but not all forms of access to media like documents/photos/etc. - even if you have a proprietary Windows-only reader that is airtight in every other respect, even if you take control of someone's computer such that they can't even take screenshots, there's always what's known as the "analogue hole" - get a decent camera and take photos of the screen ;)

This is even more seamless for audio, where you can just record what your sound card is playing and rarely notice a difference.

Maybe the reason Google does this is to make it clear that the "do not download" thing really doesn't protect anything? I don't know.

or, even easier, embed a watermark into the image.

It would presumably mean that if someone tried to reproduce it, anyone looking at it would know it was copied from you or whatever. It depends what your motivations are on protecting it in the first place.

PDFs aren't that secure. A watermark is fairly easy to remove anyway.

I still don't get why you want to stop people downloading a document you're sharing to a cloud storage system, then posting a link for people to see it, but there we go.

Can I ask what I guess is a daft lady question (!!). I have just bought Feltham (my17th)and I am enjoying it...but.Is there any reason it plays from left to right? I think all my other sims play in the direction of the say a rail map. It would be easier if Clapham Junction app was on the right and the loop and Eton were on the top. anyway that my tuppence worth.

Which way round a sim is will have nothing to do with a map, take Wembley mainline, Euston is on the right as that's where it is on the real panel. Rugby on the other hand has Euston towards the left as that's how the real box has it.

It was a hold over from an older version of the forum, I've sorted that now, but unfortunately the original link doesn't work anymore.
