Would it be possible to add a prominent link to the Installation Guide somewhere in the Download and Shop area of the main site?

Is it also possible to have a link to it at the top of the forum in the same bar as the rules bit? or an additional bar so no matter what page you look at on the forum it is there?

As from the amount of queries on the forum and shout box recently people aren't finding (or looking for) it and it's a well written and invaluable resource for any new people to SimSig

Good idea, added to the download page, can't get the colour to highlight though, any ideas?

<li>New users should read the <b><u><font colour='0000ff'><a href='http://www.SimSig.co.uk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=usertrack:install'>installation guide</font></b></a></li></u>

The short answer, I suspect, is to use "color" (no u).

However, the <font> tag has been deprecated for some time now and is no longer officially supported in the latest HTML version, so I'd advise against using it. A better bit of code would be:

<li>New users should read the <b><u><a href='www.SimSig.co.uk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=usertrack:install' style='color:#0000ff;'>installation guide</font></a></u></b></li>

Thanks, that works (with a tweak) and is pretty close to what I copied from else where to no avail.

You should use inline CSS to set the link colour, or you could edit the CSS Stylesheet if you need to set more properties of the link styling (e.g. its colour once visited). The HTML <font> tag is no longer officially supported, having been deprecated since before I ever looked at HTML, and shouldn't be used.

The following gives you a nice pink link:

<li>New users should read the <b><u><a href='www.SimSig.co.uk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=usertrack:install' style='color:#ff00ff;'>installation guide</a></u></b></li>

(To explain to any confused readers, I posted this, thought it wasn't working and deleted the post, then realised it did work - in the mean time, Peter must've read my old post!)

How about "New users should read the Installation Guide before installing any of the software"?

Prefix it with "//" to make it an absolute link rather than relative.

I understand that Baz, was just pointing it out as the link in the download page will need to be changed.
