Hey Guys,

Wondering if anyone would even use this but more importantly develop it. Can get some screen shots of the system but basically 2 yards, 2 ports, several mines with baloon loops, some single line working atleast 250km bi directional duplicated line, to simulate the whole line would be nearly impossible but it would be a good mix and could just simulate certain parts.

But the trains are 2.5km long, 30,000 tons and mix up the hi rails, track machines, service trains etc it would be quite fun!

I can get quite a bit of info if anyone needs it.

will post some screen shots of the train control system if anyones interested in seeing them.

I think those lines use North American style signaling (and locomotives). Sounds like a job for Train Dispatcher 3?

Sometimes I would increase the freight train lengths to 990 metres like here in Australia. Although many freight trains are up to 1400 metres in length. As I used to say one freight train in two postcodes at the same time.

Problem with train dispatcher is its not realistic, doesn't have the points settling etc just throws them over and click and its green and away it goes. Boring in my mind.

Where as sim sigs programming allows it to be realistic and fit in with actual operations like points frame, shunt signals etc.

That depends on your definition of realistic. It's a fairly accurate representation of North American (and Australian) pattern CTC interfaces and in fact TD3 track layouts are used by the ATCS community to display live train movements. One interesting feature is that it supports some sort of external interface that can be used to run model train layouts or even drive the inputs to preserved lever frames.

See for yourself.

That looks like the national network, not the private ore network built to North American standards.

Australia has many privately run coal and iron ore railways running to North American standards and locomotives. Mainly in Western Australia and Northern Queensland. I wanted to visit them one day instead of going to the USA, but I think the West Coast of America is almost closer.

Trainz has a driver simulator of this. Maybe one of the others, e.g., RailSimulator has an add-on
