Question answered
It did not occur to me that it could be an AHB

It appears to be an AHB crossing. It's normal for the signals prior to an AHB to be at green when the crossing barriers are up. The van driver hasn't jumped the lights because - as you can see - the lights aren't lit.

As Forest Pines says, it's an AHBC.

But Oddjob you shouldn't have deleted your own post, one reason being that I'm interested to know why 471 at St Johns is flashing red.

RE a request to restore the original post: I can't because the OP edited the text rather than removed it. But it's his right to do so anyway and he can decide if any he wants to restore.

I thought as moderators you were able to restore edits? To remove the OP is really unhelpful.

Not with this forum software (Kunena).

Here's the original video. Why does 471 at St Johns (~1:10) flash red?

It doesn't, it's to do with the on/off flickering of the bulb and the finite shutter speed of the camera.

Combination of the 50Hz a.c. supply to the signal lamp and the sampling rate of the camera. It's cropped up before, see this thread about a similar video filmed at Carlisle.

To a human watching the signal directly, the lamp would appear constantly lit.

Even if the moderators were able to restore posts I would be extremely disappointed if they did. Its one thing for a moderator to delete a post that breaches forum rules but its an entirely different matter to restore something a contributor no longer wishes to appear on a public forum. Whether or not its unhelpful is neither here nor there, its the poster's prerogative to remove whatever he/she has posted.
