Cannot get the No 2 frame to release. Is it on a timer delay from 6D07 arriving?

I have the same issue. I believe the problem might be to do with 6D07's location not stepping correctly upon departure from the St. Andrew's sidings, but even changing the current/next location does not cause it to step up, so I don't really know what to do. http://tim32.org/~muzer/6d08.png http://tim32.org/~muzer/6d08_timetable.png

The station track needs to be occupied for at least 3 minutes before a release can be obtained.

Whilst thanking BarryM for his usual helpful reply, it would be a good idea if the Sim manual made mention of this!

Please can someone explain how these frames are released? I'm attempting to add to the Wiki, but the only one I can get to release is No.3 when the branch is unoccupied.

Have you tried experimenting with the sim loaded without a timetable? Certain tracks need to be occupied for a certain time (3 minutes?) before a release is given.

I've sent a train down timed to stop at Sinfin No.2, next location Sinfin No.2 loop and have been unable to release the frame after 5 minutes.

The operation of Sinfin Sidings is the only aspect of this sim that I have failed to master. The morning train which arrived in the morning failed to move into the sidings and the afternoon train, presumably the return working, failed to materialise as the lever frame once again failed to operate. I realise that I am not working it correctly but could someone please give a step by step explanation on how to operate it.

I've managed to successfully get 6D08 into Sinfin so thought i'd detail how I did it for others to try.

After 6D08 has run-round in St Andrews Sdg and been routed towards Sinfin, manually step its TT to show 'Sinfin GF no2' as its next location as the TT doesnt step properly. When the train arrives at GF no2 its direction should change to 'up'.

After 3 minutes you can unlock GF no2 (click the green F). Operate the release (lever 1), then the facing point lock lever. Now operate the 'Sdg' lever and return the point lock to normal. You can now clear the 'up' signal and the train will move off into the siding and detatch the loco. Return the 'up' signal lever and clear the 'sdg' signal.

The loco will re-appear on the track circuit section and head down to Sinfin. Operate GF no3 (click the green F) and operate the release lever, the points lever and the down signal lever and the loco will disappear into Sinfin Sdgs.

You can now close both frames (remember you need to operate the point lock on GF no2 before moving the points back to normal)

Hopefully that is clear enough for people to understand and to work the rest of the moves around Sinfin.

Out of interest, why does the loco disappear into Sinfin Sdgs and then re-appear only to couple back up to the tanks it has just detached?

Thanks for the explanation above.

I have managed to get 6D08 into the siding, the loco has uncoupled and returned back to Sinfin Central but it is still showing 'Down' as the direction of travel. I then operated GF 3 as directed and reversed the direction of the loco to the up direction but the driver called in saying that he / she was at signal 374X which was showing red. I gave him / her the authorisation to pass the signal at red and it trundled back into the siding, but despite all efforts it will not re-join the train that it has just left.

Can somebody point me in the right direction as to what i am doing wrong.....?

Also, when I have passed this point and successfully joined the loco back to the train, should I not wait for it to leave the siding before re-setting the lever frames back to normal......?

Sorry for all this - I'm finding the whole Sinfin manouvres very confusing....! Perhaps an idiots guide with further explanation wold help those of us who are not so familiar with Derby.

Thanks.

To check joining, using the Train List (F2) you must ensure that both the joining trains are at the same location. If not, in F2, you need to adjust the trains timetable by right clicking the trains ID, click on "Timetable Options", click "Edit Timetable" then edit "Timetable Editor" using the Location List, highlight the trains location then click on "Set current/next location" button. Press "Ok".

I've just played around with the Derby update released today, and the Sinfin frames seem to work a lot better. To avoid potential problems, I'd load a save made before the train entered the branch.

How does one get 0F96 to come out of Sinfin Sidings?

It says points set incorrectly before me: but when I click on GF3 Full (F), it just keeps flashing.

Any ideas, anybody?

Clicking on the F (Free) button releases the frame, then click Show-> Lever Frames-> Sinfin No.3 and operate the levers as appropriate (Lever 1 first to release the rest of the levers, then set the points and signal. Don't forget to move them back and lock the frame once the train has left the sidings).

Following the advice in this thread, I was able to get a train into and out of Sinfin successfully. This required stepping the timetable past Melbourne Jn on the way in.

However, I can't see any information about Sinfin on the wiki. Surely it should be there by now, after 3 years?
