Morning all,

I have a question which sounds stupid but I want to double check on, basically last night I was playing a multi player chain of Wembley Mainline and Watford Junction in which my friend was Wembley Mainline and I was Watford Junction.

I followed the instructions once I eventually found them which wasn't easy and we successfully managed to chain the two together now my question is this, does this mean then that my laptop is capable of hosting future SimSig sessions?

Or is it just me being able to connect to hosting sessions as a external signalbox?

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Providing your port forwarding is set up, which it obviously is if you joined a game last night, then yes you can host.

To be clear chaining has nothing to do with hosting. Chaining is when you join two adjacent simulations together, like Wembley & Watford.

In order to host, you need to set up port forwarding on your router. If you connected to your friend's session, but nobody connected to yours, you wouldn't have needed it- your simulation was essentially a client to his.

Depends on which simulation connected as Ext SB. If A connected to B (ie B was the master) then port forwarding for B is proven working, but doesn't prove A is; in this case B should be able to host clients.

His was the Master controlling Wembley Mainline while mine was the Slave controlling Watford Junction, we both connected using connect to External Signalbox successfully.

Although as he was the Master and I just click on Connect to External Signalbox and we could see it chained no issues, this means I ought to host okay?

Is anyone around this morning to try a a hosting session to see if I can now actually host?

No- as you're connecting to him, you don't need port forwarding set up, just as Multiplayer clients don't need port forwarding set up. Have you read the page linked to above?

No, you connecting to his PC proves only his port forwarding was OK, you need to try his PC connecting to you as the master to prove your port forwarding.
