Mechanical/AB boxes aside, what do modern (ie panel or workstation) signallers hear in the way of sounds? Just wondering how true SimSig is to life in this respect.

I believe that the downloadable sounds from within the downloads section on this site here http://www.SimSig.co.uk/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=257&func=select&id=6 were recorded in various power boxes and for me much enhance the game when assigned to a particular type of message via the F3 options box. I additionally have found some level crossing bell recordings and connected them up to the appropriate message types. I find it much easier to cover multiple panels if I get an audible warning of what is about to occur. The only exception to this is the phone ringing, which I found got on my nerves a lot, so I have replaced it with th equiet sound of a purring cat, which is s lot more peaceful.

Heh @ the cat, that might be a good idea ;)

Yeah, I use sounds too for the same reason. But obviously in many cases the control area of a real signaller is smaller and less complex than some of the larger multi-workstation sims, so I was wondering if real life signallers maybe get less audible feedback than we do.
