What is the speed limit used in the sim for the line to Welshpool? Trains appear to be running at a blanket 50mph (apart from on the approach to SUB10, where the speed is the correct 60mph), which is far below the speed limit - the minimum I can see in recent sectional appendices 115km/h = 70mph. The running time in the default timetable matches the current timings, so I don't believe the linespeed has changed significantly in the last year or two.

The speed limit used was taken from the scheme plans for the ERTMS plans; Converted from KPH to MPH and rounded up to the nearest whole 5MPH. These speeds also match with a "Yellow Peril" I have for the same period.

I will mark this to do some digging over any line speed changes.

I was under the impression that the speed limits were a straight conversion from the old mph limits, and I don't think the line was as sedate as 50mph before - the Dec 2007 timetable shows 23 minutes Shrewsbury (dep)-Welshpool (dep), which matches the May 2015 timetable, but Simsig has trains taking something more like 27 minutes.

Were temporary speed limits put in on the introduction of ETRMS for some reason?

I know that the timings have never been updated on the Cambrian since the introduction of the ERTMS signalling, which to this day is a source of much local annoyance, though this is subsiding with the introduction of the extra service to Aberystwyth. As such even if the speeds where increased it won't be reflected in a reduction in timings.

All I've gone of is the data I have available for the scheme, as such I need to investigate why there is a discrepancy before I can give a definite answer.

Logged to investigate (SHR-172)
