Thanks to Peter Bennet for the new version of the Exeter simulation! The warning of trains approaching Pinhoe and Topsham on the Down is particularly appreciated.

I've noted a couple of minor bugs while trying it out:

E100 used to behave in the same way as E5 (and others), i.e. once a route was set it remained set as if the signal had an auto button, however in the new version it behaves like a normal controlled signal. Is this intentional? This topic from a while ago implies that it should behave like E5.

Attempting to set auto working on E12, E32 and E49 (signals with only one route) displays the message 'Auto working not available for this route'.

In 2006 mode (I've not checked 2015), trains passing over the site of Silk Mill crossing produce the message 'Silk Mill: Train passed with crossing open', and a 50-point penalty is incurred.

Couple of glitches, thanks.

Also noticed that Sigs clear for Silk Mill when open.

Also V5 timetable available to download separately, from memory it's just tweaks and old TTs should still work (can't guarantee), for technical (historical) reasons it's incompatible with updates.

A quick query - is E653 at Tiverton mean't to be permissive onto the loop (at least) or the main? I have a speedlink trip which arrives at E640 and propels into the down loop before running round then entering Tiverton Redland siding, but E653 Won't clear to allow the loco to rejoin its train.

Very grateful for the update, especially Exeter Central Cement sidings - I can put my Trip from Riverside in now!

Edit - just noticed Dart Valley has an Exit arrow but no route is available between PN7 or PN9 with or without the ground frame operated. RTFM

There is no Valid timetable path between Taunton E604 and Taunton Concrete nor Vice Versa.

Thanks for the update!

I had a train waiting at Honiton for the single line and I accepted it but then right clicked on the block cancelling the route. I accepted it again and told the driver to speak to control. I waited about 5 minutes but it said it's waiting at red signal so I authorised it past at danger. The headcode has remained at Honiton and the box keeps phoning saying they have a train waiting even though by now it's at Exmouth Jn. The headcode has now changed to a new one at Exeter Central and Honiton box is phoning up about the new headcode thinking it's waiting at Honiton. The block won't reset to normal (Stuck at TOL) by clicking arrived nor will it work requesting it and I'm not sure if any more trains will enter.

I expect so - fixed

Can't reproduce:- train entered: stopped: accepted / cancelled: accepted again: driver called control: train tootled off as expected.

Thanks for adding back in the missing sdgs at Exeter Central where the Cement Works are. There are several trip services between Riverside Yard & the sdgs at Exeter central that couldn't be tt'd before due to them being missing. Glad to also see a pre 1986 option as well. Great stuff.

It could of been that I told it to pass signal at danger that caused it to mess up?

In 2015 mode, there's no crossing to close at Silk Mill, yet you still get the 'train passed with crossing open' message & attendant penalty that was mentioned earlier :doh Think that needs sorting, though the other improvements (such as Sands Road crossing at Paignton being shown, auto raise re-enabled on a couple of the level crossings and the Topsham approach berth) are very welcome.

I am also glad to see the rebuild of Exeter and the extra detail on it, as well as the provision of Newcourt station. However I see that provision has not been made for one other station which is also due to start seeing trains soon. I realise, though, that the detail for the location of Cranbrook station will need a look at Exmouth Junction PSB before it can be added. However I imagine that it would something like this:.

The "Close Crossing" indicator for Pinhoe would then light up after the train leaves Cranbrook. According to RTT the new Cranbrook station is due to start seeing trains on 07th November.

Good job though, Peter, and thanks.

Dave

Peter. When exeter was previously done I beleive it was kind of a catch all sim to run in all eras however the rebuild has distinctive eras.

Exeter central sidings, althington road and City basin are mutually exclusive of Silk mill being removed but are still present on the sim. Is this for simplicity of avoiding too much rebuilding on the eras?

Alphington Rd was used for scrap trains long after Silk Mill crossing was removed.

I stand corrected on that one! a look at Google maps shows Alphington road lifted and built over, but City basin appears to still have intact track and signalling.

Just had a quick look at my Summer Sunday 1980 timetable, which has now throw up errors with Version 5 (Tiverton pre 1986).

1) Invalid timetable data "No path found between Taunton West sigs E483/617/619) and Taunton Dock.Although this route does set if you try it.

and

2) Invalid timetable data "No path found between Totnes and Totnes loco Sig" .Again route does set.

There are also a number of warnings which I've yet to look at.

In the attached picture Alphington Rd is on the left, and what I (roughly) believe to be the site of City Basin is circled on the right.

There's a lot of very confused comments here! Alphington Road sidings are those marked yellow on the map, following the A377 Alphington Road. City Basin sidings were on the other side of the main, near and above the location marked "CrossFit Exe", serving (surprise surprise!) the canal basin.

There's a minor cosmetic fault at Hele LC- the R-W-F text is below the LC, but the indicators themselves are above it.

Hele fixed.
Less concerned about sidings existing beyond reality, if I have agreed dates then I can change but maybe not for a quick update to resolve some of the points found above.

New station - if someone can look up the M/Ch and TIPLOC for me I can add quite quickly.

Another forum quotes Cranbrook as being at 166 miles 22 chains, platform length 150 metres. Phil Deave's Railway Codes website lists the TIPLOC as 'CBRK'.
