Good morning. I am hoping someone on hear can help me with this query. In 1996 (at least) there used to be a train service from London Victoria to Tunbridge Wells via Redhill. It used to leave London Victoria at xx43 and (most times) went via Stewarts Lane Junction to Longhedge Junction to Clapham Junction then onto East Croydon to Redhill to Edenbridge then onto Tonbridge High Brooms and Tunbridge Wells. On a few occasions I caught it from East Croydon to London Victoria it went different routes. Sometimes it went via Crystal Palace, Tulse Hill to Herne Hill to Victoria. Sometimes it went via the Up Brighton Slow to Streatham Common then to Streatham to Tulse Hill. Or it went via the Up Brighton Slow all the way to London Victoria. I am enquiring as to what the headcode was. I know the Southeastern headcode was 26. This service I think was originally the London Bridge service but Southeastern decided to divert it ot London Victoria. Many thanks Rodney 30 I know this didn't last long as it went back to London Bridge the following year. Log in to reply |

A few records of it, but sadly full headcodes were not widely available at the time. It kept going to May 1997 though. 20 January 1996 1243 Victoria - Tunbridge Wells code 26 Route Platform 7 - Battersea Pier Jn (SE) - Stewarts Lane Jn - Longhedge Jn - Pouparts Jn - Clapham Jn - Balham - Redhill 1406 Tunbridge Wells - Victoria code 26 Route Redhill - Balham - slow lines - 219 points - Platform 7 and also 26 January 1997 1343 Victoria - Tunbridge Wells code 26 Route Platform 7 - Battersea Pier Jn (SE) - Stewarts Lane Jn - Longhedge Jn - Pouparts Jn - Clapham Jn - Balham 24 May 1997 1604 Tunbridge Wells - Victoria Balham - slow lines - 219 points - Platform 7. That was probably the last weekend of use. regards Bill Log in to reply The following user said thank you: rodney30 |

" said:The headcode *was* 26, although it probably had a 4 character train identity / reporting code alongside that. Also SouthEastern didn't exist back then, it would have been Connex South Eastern. Last edited: 01/11/2015 at 17:49 by Sacro Log in to reply |
