The CA signal is surely a co-acting signal: link, piccies. Basically, they are installed to improve signal sighting, the signal may be difficult to see from the cab of some or all trains when stopped correctly at the station, so a co-acting signal is provided which displays the same aspect as the main signal, so you can use that instead. Sometimes, of course, the signal will be moved, but this is not always possible, or not always ideal. Sometimes there isn't a perfect place for a signal, so you may want two showing the same thing. Signals illuminating white are slots. So rugby releases his slot. Then lichfield is able to pull off. Alrewas has this on derby aswell.
