Train entered simulation message - Stopping/Non-stopping 06/05/2016 at 16:53 #82178

For trains entering at Milton Keynes or Coventry an indication is given as to whether the train is Stopping or Not stopping at MK or Coventry.

Does anybody know if it is prototypical?

If it is just an aid I am interested in the reasoning behind its introduction as it could be argued that it reduces the realism of the simulation.

I doubt if it's prototypical as far as a panel is concerned, as a panel won't "know" the timetable like an IECC with ARS would. However, the feature is helpful to clients on a multiplayer game as they don't have access to the timetable except on a train by train basis.

I believe it relates to the speed of the train as it enters. Two locations are given for the same location.

Non stopping will enter at line speed and stopping enter at 0mph and accelerate from there.

As jc92 says, it relates to the speed on entry, and thus the time taken to get to the next timing point. It's supposed to enhance the realism, not reduce it!

Would it be possible to generalise the feature into a tick-box next to the entry location? That way, it could be simulated everywhere without having to write separate TT locations.

Thanks for both of your replies, which make sense.

The background to my realism angle was whether it was intended to ease regulation at Hanslope Junction or Rugby which was clearly not the intention.
