In a few weeks, there will be a new station between Shipley and Leeds on the Airedale and Leeds Bradford Lines and it will be called Kirkstall Forge. On the rail network map, it will be called Apperley Bridge. I don't know if SimSig is going to add this station in, and release a new version of Leeds.

Unfortunately it won't appear on the Leeds sim as it's the station's not within the simulated area.

I was looking forward to that, but I didn't know that the station isn't in the simulated area.

Those are actually two separate stations - there's Apperley Bridge, which has already opened in 2015 and there's Kirkstall Forge, which should open soon.

Yes and no. Apperley Bridge is beyond Apperley Junction, so there is indeed no point in including within Leeds City.
Kirkstall Forge on the other hand, while not being within the player controlled area, is definitively within Leeds City's fringe area, so if Geoff ever does a 2016 era (the currently simulated layout seems to be based around 2009, compare e.g. the crossover speeds at Church Fenton), it should be included, too, just as e.g. in the Up direction all the stations between Harrogate and Leeds are included.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

I was going to say "It's Grim Up North" would have been more apt, but I'd forgotten that was released under a different band name. Bah!

Kirkstall Forge is in fact entirely built, and has been so for some months. The delay in opening is in completing the access road and associated groundworks. At present, it is in splendid isolation about half a mile into a massive brownfield site which is about to be developed with 100s of new homes and other amenities. The May 2016 TT has Ilkley line trains stopping there predominantly, whereas Bradford Forster Square trains serve Apperley Bridge.

It's been an ongoing saga, but everything's just about done now. Due to open on 12 June according to the local press and Metro's publicity.
