Chaining to York with 0445 15.10.09 TT 09/06/2016 at 08:22 #82953

Just tried running a York/Leeds chain 0445 Groundhog Day TT after running the bug fix update today.

York TT fired up correctly.

Leeds TT had all the trains scheduled from midnight entering very late. As such, those crossing into the York sim ended up on that sim with "No TT has been assigned to this train" in York.

I'm sure it's as simple as deleting/modifying the trains tabled to enter before 0445hrs?

Other than that, cracking timetables there!!

Yes. Anything that seeds in Leeds and doesn't move until after 04:45 leave as it is, anything that leaves Leeds by 04:45 delete, and anything that enters before 04:45 and is still in the simulation at 04:45 adjust so that it seeds at an appropriate place.

While it is good to see it is now possible to chain Leeds and York it is a shame that Leeds wasn't released with a 0445 start option originally or with the latest update.

If Leeds North West and/or Leeds Ardsley are next in line (assuming they have 0445 start options) then the gap will be compounded. Equally it will be interesting to see if a Spring 2016 for Leeds East/West will appear in the future.

As usual it will be a case of wait and see what appears.

There appears to be plenty of trains to keep you occupied for a midnight chain!

For the first hour or so quite a few trains - it then dies off for a few hours - before things start to come off shed.

I might run them forward to 0600 and then host a chained session sometime next week.

Further to the above, I had 2R50 leave the York sim at Gascoigne Wood Jn towards Sherburn. A few moments later it appeared twice on the Leeds EW sim approaching Sherburn-in-Elmet.

Not having written a TT for Simsig, how does a train in a TT know how to react when it is chained to another sim? IE: How does it know that, at a given entrance point, it has to wait for the source service to appear from the adjacent chained sim as opposed to other entrance points on the sim that is not chained to anything?

Basically, yes. Each entry point in the sim can be tagged with a chain. When that chain is active, trains don't enter at that point. When the chained sim tells it there's a train to transfer across, it looks it up in the timetable and creates a train with the relevant schedule (but other properties like length come across the chain).

I had previously created a Spring 2016 (Friday) passenger timetable for my own amusement. If anyone might be able to adapt this to chain with the York timetable, feel free to get in touch. I'm not sure exactly what work would be required to make the timetable compatible.

For Leeds you need to identify which trains enter from Milford Junction and which trains enter from Gascoigne Wood Junction. With the latest version all will show Milford but you can change the slightly fewer trains from GWJ to use that entry point instead. Within the sim it's the same place but, when chained to York, prevents GWJ trains entering while Milford trains are unaffected.

I have created a 04:45 15.10.09 timetable. It needs to be tested with York.
