Passing Basingstoke Station at 1230 I hear "Due to a signalling failure, platforms 1 & 2 cannot be used". Within a 10 min period platform 4 hosted a Down cross-county, 2 Waterloo fasts and a Waterloo slow. Many trains delayed. Emergency work at Poole was also mentioned but no time stated for a train there. Pity there is no Basingstoke simulation. A timetable with that complication would be interesting and entertaining. They may have said there was a track circuit failure, but they are surely unlikely to give out that kind of detailed information, assuming they even knew exactly which track circuit it was at all.
