The latest version of the Loader has a new check box next to the Seed Train check box called Seeding Gap. The Change Log on the Wiki for v4.5.12 includes "0015428: [Timetabling] Seeding gap should be adjustable (clive) - resolved."

What does this new check box control?

It's not a check box, it's a number! If you're getting a check box then something is seriously wrong with your setup.

It's the distance from the front of the train to the seeding point when it seeds.

Beg pardon, yes a number.

Thanks for the explanation - why is this necessary?

Allows you to exactly position a train for seeding, rather than at a signal or similar - for example to leave room at a certain platform

Or, for example, to get a train to seed right up at a signal so that its rear doesn't hang over a set of points.
