I have completed a weekday timetable for Shrewsbury in August 2016. Its in the final stages of testing and will be submitted on the website within the next 7 days. This timetable is a standard weekday timetable based on the workings in late August 2016. The the timetable is based on a Friday in August, however there has been freight and other trains added from different days. Timetable data taken from RealTime Trains, headcodes are taken from the Network Rail WTT. --Timetable Notes--- Please note that only Class 158 DMU's or Class 97 locomotives are allowed onto the Up/Dn Welshpool as they are the only things fitted with ERTMS. ---Service Pattern--- Shrewsbury is served by three train operating companies with the most dominant one being Arriva Trains Wales, who also manage the station. The other operators are London Midland and Virgin Trains. --Arriva Trains Wales-- Arriva Trains Wales are the main operator at Shrewsbury, their services are as follows; 1tph Manchester Piccadilly - Cardiff Central, Carmarthen or Milford Haven operated by Class 175 DMU's or occasional Class 158 or 150 DMU's. There is also one service a day from Fishguard Habour to Manchester in one direction and from Manchester to Tenby in the other direction. 1tp2h Cardiff Central - Holyhead operated by Class 175 DMU's, with one service each way operated by the Premier Set using a 67+4 Coaches and a DVT. There is also one service that extends to Llanelli and another to Maesteg. Additionally during evening peak some services will run from Cardiff or Swansea to Chester via Crewe rather than Wrexham. 1tph Birmingham International - Holyhead or Aberstywtyh/Pwllheli operated by mainly 2 Class 158 DMU's. These services alternate and in the hour that a Cardiff-Holyhead services runs this services goes to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli spitlling at Machynlleth, in the hour that the Cardiff- Holyhead service doesnt run these services continue in its path to Holyhead. Also during in the day some services may run between Shrewsbury and Aberstywtyh/Pwllheli only, usaully when the service itself contiunes to Holyhead. Also during morning peak there is a service which starts from Crewe joining up to a Wrexham portion at Shrewsbury. 1tp2h Crewe-Shrewsbury operated by Class 153 or Class 150 DMU's. These services also extend to Swansea or Cardiff via the Heart of Wales line. There are also Heart of Wales line services that operated between Shrewsbury and Cardiff/Swansea only. There is also 1 morning and 1 evening shuttle that are by operated a Class 158 DMU. --London Midland-- London is the only other regular operator to Shrewsbury, there services are as follows; 1tph Birmingham New Street- Shrewsbury operated by Class 170 DMU's. During in morning peak the services are every half hour. --Virgin Trains (West Coast) -- Virign Trains operated 3 Trains a day to and from London Euston using Class 221 DEMU's. These services are an extenstion of the Euston-Wolverhampton services. --Freight--- There is an average amount of freight in the area, however slightly less after the closure of both Rugeley and Ironbridge Power stations early in the year. The majority of the freight runs in the early hours of the morning or late at night. The most regular flow is the 2 Timber flows from Chirk, just down the line, with one going to Carlisle in Cumbria, running round in the station, and another going to either Baglan Bay in Wales or Exeter in Devon. They are operated by Colas Rail who use Class 60 locomotives to haul the trains. Another regualar flow is Steel from Margam in Wales to Dee Marsh, just up the line in Shotton, there is 2 trains each way both operated by DB Cargo who use Class 66 locomotives to haul the trains. DB Cargo also operate two more regular flows, an automotive flow from Mossend - Portbury via the Welsh Marches and a Margam to Carlisle Gypsum flow with are also both hauled by Class 66 locomotives. Occasional flows are engine or wagons moves by Freightliner Heavy Haul usuaully between Basford Hall in Crewe and Stoke Gifford near Bristol, there is also a daily Cement train from Westbury to Earles and and Intermodal train from Bristol - Garston, both operated by Freightliner hauled by either a Class 66 or 70 locomotives. There is a 2 regular sandites, one operated by an MPV, the other being top and tailed Class 97 locomotives. There are also a couple of test trains throughout the day, and loco moves of the the 97's between Coleham and Derby. Please report any bugs you find in the timetable here and I hope you enjoy it. Been working through this timetable from the start and have got to approx 21.20hrs and have encountered an issue. 1J31 is timetabled into Platform 5 but on arrival *appears* too long for the platform, and is also waiting for joining train 5J70 which would make it even longer. I was going to try and join 5J70 anyway but as 1J31 is apparently so long the AB will not reset. Any assistance gratefully received - obviously I can always use a different platform but would rather know if i'm going wrong somewhere. Save attached. Post has attachments. Log in to view them.
