Hi All

I'm pleased to advise you all, that this timetable is now uploaded and ready for release.

Description of this timetable
This is a 2016, standard weekday timetable for the Exeter Panel area. This is timetable is fully compatible, and able to be chained with Westbury, and is designed to chain with all adjacent Loader Simulations (including any future releases). The Passenger workings have been taken from data made publically available by Network Rail, with First Great Western stock allocations based on unit diagrams. These are a snapshot of one day however, and are only intended to represent what actually happened on that one day, so these may not be entirely representative of daily operations. South West Trains stock allocations are based off the Carriage Working Notice. Freight services have been verified against actual workings for 25 May 2016. The timetable has been tested to ensure the Passenger and Freight workings do not conflict.

Three start times are provided, 00:00, 04:30 and 14:00. On the 00:00 start, 456 services are in this timetable. This is broadly in line on previous timetables, although there have been a few service changes in that time. You will need to pay close attention to all timetables, in particular, the Freight services especially if they are running early. Exeter will often jam up with trains, so you will need to think ahead!

The 14:00 start time is a new feature in response to several forum posts. This time was picked as it was felt that this was late enough to allow easy access to the evening peak services (not often played), but also early enough to encounter the ECS workings to establish the peak service. Comments on this are welcome.

This timetable has been written by Andrew James, with assistance from John Mills (Meld), and several other individuals.

As usual, if any errors or issues are found, please add comments to this thread, and we will address them.

Passenger Services
Great Western Railway (GWR)

First Great Western operate almost all services through this area. The service pattern is mixed, with the Long Distance services from the Far West to London, and rural services centred on Exeter itself. Many of these trains split, join or shunt at Exeter. Whilst there is a basic pattern of services, there are variations or additions to this on most hours. This is marked on the train description. The basic pattern is:

  • 1tph London Paddington - Plymouth (with some extensions to Penzance).

  • 1tph Taunton - Cardiff Central

  • 1tph Exmouth - Barnstaple.

  • 1tph Exmouth - Paignton.

  • 1tph Newton Abbot - Paignton.

  • Occasional services between London Paddington and the Far West via Bristol Temple Meads (generally, but not always to Paignton).

A wide variety of 143, 150, 153 and 158 units are used in a variety of combinations, and HST's.

South West Trains (SWT)
South West Trains operate services on the West of England Line via Yeovil. Generally, these trains shunt to and from the New Yard. The basic pattern is:

  • 1tph London Waterloo - Exeter St Davids.

  • 1tpd Axminster - Exeter St Davids. (Peak Service)

  • 1tpd Honiton - Exeter St Davids. (Peak Service)

Almost all of these are 159 class units, along with the odd class 158.

Cross Country (AXC)

Cross Country operate regular North East - South West services through this area. Generally in the South West they terminate at Plymouth, with a few early morning and late evening extensions to Penzance. These commence at a variety of places in the North East and Scotland. These services are further supplemented by periodic services from Manchester to Paignton, which are in turn an extension of the hourly service normally terminating in Bristol. The basic pattern is:

  • 1tph Newcastle / Leeds / Edinburgh / Glasgow / Dundee / Aberdeen - Plymouth / Penzance

  • Occasional services between Manchester Piccadilly and Paignton.

These services are formed by Class 220 and 221 Multiple Units, along with two HST's on the busiest services.

Freight

Freight is fairly infrequent conveying a variety of commodities to various destinations across the south of the United Kingdom. Traffic includes MOD workings to Ernesettle, China Clay to and from Burngullow, Engineering Trains to and from Taunton, and on this day, a Colas light locomotive on a route learning exercise on the West of England Line.

Other notes
You must read the timetable carefully, as trains will often not take the route you expect, or hold for another train to run ahead of it. This is particularly important for freight services, especially if they are ahead of time. Exeter will often jam up with trains, so you also need to be prepared to re-platform trains if things run a bit pear shaped.

We hope you find this challenging and enjoyable.

If there are any issues or errors, please let us know in this thread.

There's a mis-match between the evening 6Y19 from Fairwater Yard in Exeter's tt and the version in Westbury.

Westbury's is UID U20380 FRWAYD dep 1708 BILSHST arr 2214 257m 66+Engineers+66.
Exeter's is UID H38977 FRWAYD dep 1738 BILSHST arr 2215 239m 66+Engineers+66.

Thus if chained the train always arrives late into Westbury's patch - although there is enough slack for it to exit R/T at Wilton Junc.

For reference, Salisbury's version is UID U20380 FRWAYD dep 1708 BILSHST arr 2214 367m 70+Engineers.

TIA.

In Zone 6, no one can hear you scream...
