I've been confused by some comments about avatars on the mobile layout - the code clearly doesn't have any. Turns out with real mobile devices (as opposed to simulators) the actual request sent to the server varied not only by phone, operating system, and browser but also the same OS version on two identical devices! Put another way, two iPhone 5S with the same version of iOS displayed differently. This is using the Microsoft built-in .NET IsMobileDevice method. I have now changed it to another method which performs regexs on the browser request string which ought to be better. If you have a phone that displays the green website then please let me know in this thread exactly what device and operating system it is, if you know. Tablets should display either the full green website or a slightly cut down green website. If you're seeing a blue version with a simple menu of About, Events, Forum, Games, Products then you're seeing the mobile version. The mobile version is intended to be minimalist with little graphics for fast loading. Personally I dislike supposedly mobile websites that take ages to load, cause the phone to become sluggish, and shift content around as it loads. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

I get the cut-down green version of the website on my Samsung Galaxy Core phone running Android 5.1.1 and Firefox v49.0. Chrome on the same phone gives the mobile (blue) version of the website.

Amazing, there have been over a 100 views of this thread yet only 4 people have bothered to do a 30 second test and reply to help resolve the problem.

And on both my windows Phone with IE (dont ask) and my xperia with Chrome I get the correct blue mobile version of the site, so I did not post. Log in to reply |

For what it's worth, I get a cut-down green version using Chrome on a Moto-G running Android 5.1 Of more concern to me, in Chrome on Windows 10 (Anniversary version) the full website, which had been displaying fine (I'm pretty certain I looked yesterday, certainly the day before) now shows a collapsed version of the home page with the main panel below the left panel (see attached) if my window is less that 1200px wide. Normally I have my browser window about 1050px with my mail client beside it. Put another way, when I open Simsig I now see a *lot* of white space and have to scroll down a long way to find the body text. Just checked, and Microsoft's Edge does the same thing. Sorry - can't seem to attach the image even with an all lower-case file name. Oh, more fun. The "Latest Posts" screen displays the posts at the right but the left-hand panel is missing completely (just a white space) at 1050px width and only appears when I widen the window. on my I-pad 4 I also get the green compact site. As I said it works fine on both of my phones. Shouldn't screens with a resolution higher as 1280x1024 automatically get the normal site?

When I visit on my phone, I see a green site, yet it looks quite different to the desktop site (menu is in a hamburger button and there is a fixed top-bar). Interestingly, the Latest Posts page has text that says, “Swipe the screen left to view more details,” but doing so does nothing. User agent is IceCat Mobile 38.8.0, a variant of Firefox, on Android 6.0.1.

I just had a look at the site on my iPad (iOS 10.1b4 build 14B72 using Safari). In portrait orientation I get the cut-down green website (pic 1). In landscape I get the full site, but it doesn't display correctly: the content is moved below the left-hand column (pics 2& 3)
