Having done an exhaustive search on here and throughout Google, I can't seem to find the length of the turnback siding at Longbridge. Any ideas? Don't mind adding the info to the wiki...

Also, is the crossover at Lifford West Jnc wired in real life so that AC traction can reverse at SY527? The sim allows this but wondered about operational realité...

Measuring the turnback on Google Earth, it's optimistically 194m (signal may be further back from the catch points than I assumed).

Yes, and infact there is a main aspect route from SY41 in Platform 4 at Kings Norton to SY47 to allow this move to be carried out in passenger service. Not the most common recovery move on the Cross City, as it is quite disruptive, but I've seen it done on occasion with infrastructure issues at Longbridge.

Right, enough for a 6-car 323 but not for a 9-car (or specifically a 3-car on top of a 6-car) in times of 'service perturbation'.

Thanks, TIL. Had always assumed that SY41 was only to allow access to the Camp Hill line from Kings Norton OTP.
