Timetable export 26/05/2017 at 22:21 #95407

Hi - apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I cannot find it. In the timetable section (F4) under tools 1 there is an export function - but when I try and use this all I get is the list of train types and not the full timetable which is what I am after. I also cannot get convdata to work - I get an 1633944 error which is very exciting but doesn't tell me which idiot mistake I made. Can anyone point me to documentation or a forum thread which will help please.

Thanks, Thickmike

P S The timetable I am trying to export is one of the famous 1985 KX Kurt D specials with add-ons

Mike, what do you want to do the the export?

If its of any help, You may like to try this.

Load up the 1985 TT of Kings Cross in pause mode. Click on F8. Select Kings Cross in the list. Click "all" in Platforms then click "show in browser" near the bottom of the page. The result is a simplifier.html sheet for the first 2 hours of Kings Cross' platform data. You can export this data.

For the next 2 hours simply change the time at the bottom of the Location form to 02:00. The result can be exported and attached to the first report.

That shouldn't actually be necessary, as the simplifier has been showing all trains until the end of the timetable for some time now. The only thing that's limited to approximately 2 hours is the delay display.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

Thank you both of you - appreciate your help. I'll see if I can get the timetable into an editable (for me) format using this approach. Ideally I'd still like to go via .csv files to export and then re-import so if anyone else out there knows a way of doing this I'd appreciate it.

Doing a CSV export should produce three files:

X_Down.CSV
X_Up.CSV
X_Categories.CSV

Where X is the name you give the export.

I've just done a few exports from different simulations with no issues.

Hi - I've just tried again and it's worked for me this time so I think the problem was probably in the chair not the computer. However the exports are missing a number of key locations e.g. for KX - Hitchin, Stevenage and Welwyn are missing. It's one of the 1985 timetables I am using - does that matter?

Thanks

If you plan to open the CSVs with heritage technology you may need to set a limit to the number of columns. At least as far as Excel 2000 the last column was IV so you had to limit the number of columns in the export to about 230. You would then get X_Down001.CSV, X_Down002.CSV etc as output from the TT so that you wouldn't lose the trains in the columns to the right of column IV when you loaded the file(s) into Excel.

My Excel 2010 now goes as far as column XFD so more than enough columns even for one of Pascal's masterpieces.

Just a thought but they might appear further down the list as left hand column isn't necessarily laid out in the order you might expect.

Thanks again both - I'm using Excel 2013 so plenty of columns available and I've resequenced the LH column into approximate geographical sequence which was when I realised these key locations were missing. I wondered if the naming of the locations had changed but it seems to be a direct export from the timetable file so I would have expected the missing locations to be present - looks like everything is missing between just north of Hitchin and Potters Bar, which is a bit inconvenient really.....

I've also tried it on a 2004 timetable in-case it was something Kurt had done but it's the same there.

I've tried a couple of TTs. Looking at the CSV files, neither Up nor Down file has the full list of expected locations but there are more missing from the Down CSV than from the Up CSV.

I've just dug the old KX.exe out of the archive and that is producing exactly the same effect.

I'll log it on Mantis.[Done - Mantis 17430].

Thanks very much - at least it's not me!! Next dumb question is what's the likely turnround for something like this - are we talking days, weeks, months or eras? Just so I won't keep bothering folks!

Thanks

I've tried to bribe GM with promises of "look ware the donation is" - we shall see! But I am happy to wait for the right answer.

Your response is interesting though in that, in the commercial world, that response (it will be ready when it's ... etc. ) would not be acceptable - so where do we cross over between it's donationware and out of the goodness of your hearts and it's payware and you have some expectation of fixes being delivered? To be clear, I have no issue at all with what happens now but I am not sure how clearly the lines are drawn. I also have no idea how long the list of issues on Mantis is - it sounds reassuring to be told "I'll add it to Mantis" but if my issue is number 199 on a slow moving list it might be helpful to know that. I am sure you know that customer service is all about setting expectations and then (hopefully) beating them (do not reference banks or BA in this discussion).

Anyhow my life does not/no longer (delete as applicable() depend on Simsig so I am good with waiting.

Best wishes,

Mike

I don't do things in order though, usually more in order of priority. I can look at this but without knowing the cause yet I don't know how long it might take. Sorry!

Ticket now shows that new versions of sim and loader are both under test and that the full export to CSV is working properly with that combination Presumably updates to be released when testing is completed.

Yes, unfortunately something potentially came up with the new Loader and I'm now away for a few days so I'm afraid it'll be later this week now.
