SimSig is pleased to announce the release of Plymouth SC and Oxford PSB, two small but interesting signalboxes in the western area of the UK. Plymouth is notable for the Royal Albert Bridge over the River Tamar and is the gateway to Cornwall. Oxford is renowned for its University and is considered a commuter city for London, being only an hour away.

Update supplied only 2 TTs (6 August 2005 & 15-10-09), no sign of other 2 as per manual.
Fault my end, or missing from updater?

No forum area for Plymouth so posted here -

Had a little look on Demo mode; Included 2009 timetable appears to be a combined/merged 2009 & 2006 timetable.

Plymouth forum is there (and Oxford). Seems there is confusion as to the latest version of the timetable. I shall try to get to the bottom of it and update the download accordingly (give me a day or two).

I have just purchased the Plymouth and Oxford simulations on paypal. The Plymouth simulation loaded okay but, for some reason, the Oxford simulation has not uploaded or updated on the loader? When I view the simulations, Oxford is shewn in Red and no matter how many times I do an update, no Oxford sim on my loader?

They look really good simulations. Thank you to all involved in these latest Two.

Have not got a clue where the 2009 timetable came from, I only sent in the 2006 and the add-on (latter does not seem to have appeared).

Red, as opposed to pink, indicates that the Sim is not compatible with the loader - suggest you reinstall the loader.

I had the same issue. Turns out the loader was failing to update to the latest version. Running the loader as administrator fixed this for me.

I, too, am having difficulty. Plymouth loaded without problem but Oxford is still showing in "RED" rather than "PINK" in the file listing and will not load. I have downloaded the latest System Files and they now show as V4.6.3 but this has made no difference. Am I correct in believing that this problem is in the course of being addressed or should I be doing something else to resolve the issue?

Thanks

If it's showing red then it's an issue on your end, Oxford needs Loader 4.6.4, not 4.6.3, have you tried running the loader as Administrator (right click on it in the Start Menu), and then do a check for updates.

I'm running loader V4.6.4 here and can access oxford with no issues.

Wallingfordian, if you right click on the SimSig loader shortcut and click on run as administrator, will it let you update the loader to V4.6.4?

Apologies for the timetables mix-up. There are now four timetables for Plymouth, all at version 1.1, plus updated versions of Oxford (fixing two missing emergency replacement buttons) and Exeter (chaining to Plymouth). Please click "Check for updates" in the Loader.

Thanks y10g9 for your intelligent reply - that worked fine. One learns something new every day!

The point remains, however, why, when I did a new download of the System Files before I posted yesterday, did it only update to v4.6.3 if (as I surmised from the "RED" status of Oxford on the file list) a newer version i.e. v4.6.4 was necessary in order to access Oxford. Was it the case that the System Files should have been updated before Oxford and Plymouth were released but had not been?

I have long wondered how many potential users of Simsig give up in frustration and disgust when they can't get things to work, for no fault of their own. If you're one of the inner sanctum of Simsig and know how the programming etc works it is, no doubt, fine but those of us who struggle computerwise and don't know all the intricacies of Simsig it's a different ballgame.

I'm not in the inner sanctum but manage not to give up in frustration or get disgusted because whenever there are 'blips' there is always helpful advice on the forum so they can be sorted quickly.

The system files available via the website aren't always the latest version. In line with a lot of other software (Windows being a major example) the latest version is only available via an updater.
