Waiting for booked departure time. 30/08/2017 at 17:04 #101378

I’m playing Vince’s recently released 1977 TT, which is excellent (only got as far as 03.26 so far though).

I have 6M33 sitting in the Flyash line waiting for the booked departure time of 05w10. When the train arrived, it’s description was 6E30. The description on the panel already shows the new TD, but I keep getting calls every 15 minutes that the driver of 6E30 is waiting at red signal 73. There isn’t an option to tell him to wait until the booked departure time so I have to tell him to wait 15 minutes before calling back with the inevitable result; he does just that. Is this something that I’ll have to live with? I seem to recall this happening with other timetables, although can’t remember which ones.

Just for the record, I cleared the signal to see what would happen and the train set off, but according to the TT it is now ‘inactive’. Presumably this isn’t what should be done. Oh well, Back to an earlier saved game.

Finally, a question. What does the ‘w’ mean in the Train Description? Is it that it's 'waiting'? I can't remember.

Update:
The departure time for 6M33 has been and gone and the train TD still hasn't changed from 6E30 in the Train List. I've therefore made it run to the timetable for 6M33. I presume that this is what is required at this point?

Hiya

No, that's not what is required - I've not seen this problem and I can't recreate it.

First off, are you sure you are running the recently uploaded version. For 6M33 it shows 05d10 as the departure, which means it can leave early. I can't find a version where a custom dwell time was put in for 6M33 i.e. 05w10.

Just to be sure in my mind, you are running in "original layout" and 6E30 has run around the loop before returning onto the Flyash line behind Peterborough station.

The "w" in the Peterborough Flyash entry of 6E30 mans it has a custom dwell time. For interest it is 1 hour 19 minutes which (off sim) it needs to unload on the circle. If it didn't have this dwell time and were, say, 2 hours late, it would immediately call up ready the moment it arrived.

When I run it, 6E30 arrives and as you say, the description changes immediately to 6M33 - as it should. In the F2 list it still stays as 6E30 until the train actually stops then it becomes 6M33.

It then detaches a defective wagon to the Peterborough Spur - the shunt move is called 8S33 and there is a rule which says:-

"8S33 must not depart until 20 minutes after 6E30 arrives at the Peterborough Flyash line."

So the next move will be half of 6E30/6M33 train to move as 8S33-1 to the Peterborough Spur where it will remain, virtually (off sim) detaching a wagon to the sidings fan.

It should return 20 minutes after it has run onto the Spur as 8S33-2. (That will be 15mins in the new version which I'm working on currently having had some more useful information) In the notes I've explained that it can't return directly to its train due to a sim limitation (sub route locked in opposite direction) so 8S33 runs from the Spur, onto Crescent Spur, back to the North Down Stamford where it reverses back onto its train.

When its done joining you should get a call that is done joining and the driver will call up ready.

I've run this countless times in testing and again a couple of times since I saw you mail and I can't recreate what you see.

Did you forget the detachment?

Vince

Hi Vince.
I really appreciate your detailed respone to my apparent problem.
I remember the run around but don't remember initiating a detachment, although do recall something about a defective wagon. I'll go back to an earlier save and run it again so that I can see where I probably made a mistake.
I'll let you know the result in due course.

Just double-checked and found that I wasn't running the most recently uploaded version on 26th August 2017
The version numbers confused me somewhat. Think that I was running Version 4.00 which I thought was the latest one. Anyway, I have started again from scratch.
Sorry to have wasted your time. Thanks again.
