I am working through this timetable and several times ... too many times ... I am finding that trains timetabled to go into the near end of the platform (6B etc etc) will not clear the approach pointwork, leaving their tail sticking out.

If you are using this timetable it is probably best to clear the route all the way down the platform, although that usually leaves the train description behind if the train reverses there.

The trains that reverse will not accept "Reverse direction" so as to shunt forward, so you have to kill the simulation.

There are a couple of measures you can take to try and make things work as planned.

1. Check what stopping position is shown in the TT. If it is set to Default you can sometimes get the space you need by changing it to Far End or Far End Exact.

2. If you want a train to shunt forward, you can abandon the TT through F2, then change direction/shunt forward and after that use "Run to another TT" to reinstate the TT for the train. That way you don't have to kill the sim.

PS If you run to another TT, remember to use F2 to edit the TT and make sure that the current location is set correctly.

In the years since the simulation was released with that timetable I've never heard the trains being too long. Can you give us a couple of headcodes and time of day (since some are duplicated) so we can see if it's a timetable error or not?

Back in February this year I posted details of trains in the 20091015 timetable that were too long to fit into Platform 5B and explained how to edit the timetable to get round the problem. For details, see Post 93044 (heading Timetable Problem?), as I can't get the Link to insert properly!

I've not come across any length problems with other platforms. I don't know if the timetable has been updated since then, but I suspect not.

Thanks - that's 4 trains in platform 5B; the OP suggested it was lots in other platforms though.
