Chris yes you do need to unallocate your existing licences. It will save you having too request an unlock later

I've just taken delivery of a new computer and would like to re-install sims that I had previously purchased. What is the procedure for requesting an unlock?

On your old PC open the license manager and unallocate all your licenses on that PC.

On New PC download the system files, install and do any necessary updates, then open license manager, login and allocate all you licenses to your new PC. You shouldnt need to request a license unlock if you unallocate from your old PC

The old PC has a corrupted hard drive and is unusable according to the local computer medic so I think an unlock will be necessary.

Start the License Manager on your new PC, highlight a license, and click 'Request License Unlock'. Do this for all your licenses; an admin will unlock them in due course- usually less than 24 hours. See this Wiki page.
