As a newbe , I am trying to get to grips with this sim, 5Y00 is directed into platform 7 but when trying to release it a message comes up saying subroute locked in opposite direction. What does it mean ?

That message appears (generally) when you’re trying to set a route both ways through the same bit of line.

Have you got a save game from where you’re struggling? One of our more experienced members might be able to talk you through where you’re going wrong.

Where are you trying to release it from? Canton or Plat7 for it's next working?

Which timetable are you playing, and what other trains are in P7?

The driver will phone you when he is ready to depart, & you can then give him verbal authority to proceed!

Just need to wait for him to phone.

Do you have one of the half-routes still set?

Steamer has the best suggestion, if you let us know what trains are involved we may be able to help, also a save game can be attached to this thread which would also be useful to help you.

Arons suggestion will work as a get around, but the same thing might happen with the next train as you would still likely have a locked subroute. It also won't help you to find out what happened in the first place.

I remember this situation, I cannot remember the trains of the top of my head but an ECS arrives at P7 detatches the front and the rear portions leaves P7, then 5Y00 arrives in P7 and the rear of the train over hangs the signal, so when the trains departure time comes the driver has to phone for authorisation to leave.

I will run the sim later to see what trains they are and report them.

I Belive the Timetable the user is using is "Cardiff Weekend SO 03 09 2016" I have made a post in the forum timetable section for Cardiff about the trains involved and suggested a possible fix for it, there a 2 trains in the timetable that will behave the same way, I have found them and posted them, and as I had mentioned suggest a possible fix, of which I have tested and the platform sharing incoming ECS's now fit fully into the platform with No overhang.
