I've put an event up for a possible meet in Sydney, Australia on Saturday 14th July 2018. At the moment we're determining whether there is enough interest to go ahead with a full meet, like the UK ones with multiplayer games, or if not quite enough for game play we could still have a social meet, like meeting in a pub somewhere. We do not have a venue yet as we need to determine possible numbers first. It will be in the Sydney area somewhere, accessible from public transport. Cost is likely to be nil but no food, but we will consider a buffet for everybody with an entry fee to cover this if people want that. In the former case of no food, the venue itself (or places nearby) will have food you can purchase yourself. Like the UK meets, we may go for a meal afterwards. I understand Schnitzels are popular there? If you're interested in going and are likely able to attend, please register your interest here. You are not committed to anything by registering. See you there, Alan :) We now have enough people, though not everybody has registered, to host a full blown meet. It will be held at the City of Sydney RSL Club, which I understand is a bit like a working mens' club in the UK (are they PC?). It's about 10-15 minutes to walk from Central Station, though there is a nearer stop. No food is provided, but there are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. We don't have a specific plan for dinner afterwards, though we often don't plan that until mid-afternoon on the day anyway so we know what people like to eat, and how many. Needless to say, at least two Australian sims will be played - but we do need people to bring laptops, power strips etc if you can. We hope to see at least some of you there! Ladies & Gents, like most RSL, Workers and major Sports Clubs in Australia, it has bars, restaurants, function rooms and, for those who have wanton disregard for their hard-earned, a pokie casino. That said, this club is in the heart of the Sydney CBD so plenty of other nearby eating houses and watering holes (for which some, the operative word is, indeed, "hole"). Details at http://www.cityofsydneyrsl.com.au/ Nearest railway station is Town Hall on the city underground, 3 minutes walk away. I understand the traditional post-meet curry at UK meets is legacy of curry being "standard British pub fare"? If so, the Aussie slant would be the "chicken parma" (crumbed schnitzel or "escalope" in Pomgolian). Or, we could return to the venue of the inaugural Sydney "meet" which was held at Hurricane's Grill, opposite Circular Quay station. Not fat ..... fluffy!!
