Flashing Green Aspects 03/03/2018 at 17:50 #106360

Hi all,

Just a quick question: I am currently playing Peterborough with the flashing green aspects option enabled, but none of the signals outlined in the manual flash on the screen. Does the option merely change the logic behind the scenes, or are the signals actually meant to flash on the screen too?

Regards,

→ Mark (Gwasanaethau)

Do you have 'panel signals' unticked and 'show automatic signal aspects' ticked in F3?

I also tested this and neither do I have flashing greens, but they used to work previously. Apparently the latest update has changed this.

Yes to both – I have ‘panel signals’ unticked and ‘show automatic signal aspects’ ticked.

Mantis 19074 applies. Fairly long standing issue.

In more detail, I discovered the issue just after Christmas. Geoff had made a change to the core code which affected something that wasn't used by *any* sim ... except, it turned out, the flashing greens in Peterborough.

It was fixed a few weeks ago but has been waiting for a batch of other minor items before a new release. However, since it's come up, I've asked Geoff to do a release with those fixes already done and tested.

Just to confirm that this has fixed the issue I highlighted in my original post. Thanks to all for looking into/rectifying it!

But another couple of issues have arisen.

A section of the DSL missing at Offord and Buckton in advance of P329 signal.

No route can be set from P329.

Additionally the CC line at Little Bytham end of the sim has gone missing

Havent got the sim to hand but are you reloading a save or opening a new game? Sometimes updates affect saved games.

This is a result of loading a save as that section is different in the previous version of peterborough

Already reported here

Confirmed, but that looks like the result of loading a save from a previous versions of peterborough as ok in fresh start of 4.1.4

With no timetable loaded the section of line that was missing is now there but no routes can be set from P329. There's a new GF there but that doesn't appear to work - yet.

The CC line problem is also cured.

What GF? Also I too have the issue in that I can't set any routes from P329 even in the 2009 TT I just fired up however there is a workaround

Simply send all the Down Slow traffic onto the Down Fast at St Neots and then back onto the Down Slow at Huntingdon, it might not be perfect but it's feasible and probably what the real life signallers would do anyway!

It is. Almost everything moved slightly to fit in the siding at Offord, though I'm not sure why just that one is giving you display issues. But this is the sort of thing that happens with new releases.

Or just leave ARS on at Offord crossing: that is still able to set the route.

Doesn't work in what way? I did a lot of testing of that GF.

Please (a) confirm you're starting a new game, whether with a timetable or not and (b) describe *exactly* what you're trying that doesn't work.

Apologies...

It does work on anew game - I've amended my 1977 timetable to show 8B34 detaching there and its works as it should.

Sorry.

It doesn't work for me though, I can change the points over but there are no shunt signals which you usually have with ground frames and all I get apart from the obvious levers is two red boxes that don't do anything.

I have started two new games in "old era" both 1977 and 2003 timetables with the same issue, I have also updated my loader and still can't use that ground frame.

The two red boxes simulate a handsignalman waving a green flag for 60 secs. Similar method of operation as Stoke GF.

So I just click on whatever movement I need and providing the points are locked the train will move?

Yes. At least that is what is supposed to happen.

That's right. The buttons only do anything if the points are reversed.
