Hi

New to SimSig... and struggling to work out once a train arrives that is then going to be a new train, or even 2, do I have to tell it to split and/or what it's new allocation is?

Thanks

You certainly won't have to tell it to split (at least, assuming the timetable has been set up correctly which it will have).

The new headcode is a more interesting thing. If the sim you are playing has ARS, it should do that for you, however, very complex splits or more trains in the platform than there are berths may mean that the ARS needs you to help out. If there is no ARS, but the location has ACI (Automatic Code Insertion, one of the functions that is rolled into ARS if there is ARS), then again it should be done for you, assuming there are enough berths. If, however, there is no ACI, or there aren't enough berths, then you will have to interpose the new description(s) yourself.

P.S.: I could probably make this a lot more helpful if I knew which sim you were playing and which location you were talking about! The general answer is it depends. If there's no ARS the answer is probably yes. If there is ARS the answer is probably no.
