Looking for advice please. How can I amend a freight train's or light loco's schedule so that it doesn't wait until booked time to depart a given location? I have 0H55 running a few mins early, booked to depart Guide Bridge at 0217 into the yard after changing ends. In reality, as long as the yard has accepted him and he has the signal, he would normally depart into the yard as soon as he's changed ends and got his air back up, which does happen in many other TT's, but in this one the dvr stubbornly waits for booked time, which is generally unrealistic. What do I need to amend to make this happen? Regards, Phil. Last edited: 07/11/2019 at 23:11 by Phil-jmw Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Not a foolproof method but you can set the timing at Guide Bridge as "set down only". This does not force the loco to move early but it often will. I raised this issue on Mantis on 11/09/2017 (#17852) as a Proposal (Request for comments). I suggested that there should be an option to force departure as soon as circumstances permit. To date there have been no comments or feedback. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

Thanks also for previously raising it on Mantis. Aside from when a driver wants to make a cup of tea or take his full PNB (in which case he'd tell the signalman not to pull off), in my experience when the signal comes off they're on the move. I thought set down only didn't affect CL. 0,3,4,6-0 anyway and they trey every stop as set down only. Or am I mistaken?

It was my understanding that Cl. 0 waited for time but I have been known to be wrong!

Looking at this a little closer, it should be possible to clear the line earlier in the event of early running. I'm thinking something along the lines of matching the timetabled reversing time as a custom dwell time with a set down stop as well. So in the case of an early running 0H55 it would still get the 5 min reversal but then be able to depart as soon as the dwell expires. Passed the age to be doing 'Spoon Feeding' !!! Log in to reply |
