I have a question for the developers of all sims, when you use existing data to code platform lengths into your sims how much work does it take at a later date to provide updates for the platform lengths?

For example, lets use Kings Cross now lets say in the existing sim that the platforms at Letchworth Garden City are 164m long BUT at a later date are extended to 245m long with no changes to the track infrastructure, is it fairly simple to go into the sim and make this change or is it a lot of hard work?

Bearing in mind that all the data needed is with the developer at the time.

SimSig doesn't have a concept of platform lengths per-se, the physical track data is input (lengths and shapes of track circuits, how they link together), and then fixed stopping points are put on top of that track data. (In simplistic terms).

Ultimately a platform being 160m long or 320m doesn't really affect the signalling unless signals/track circuits move to accommodate the length change.

Moving a stopping point is pretty trivial, though at present it's not possible to make it change between eras.

Changing the length of track circuits, either permanently or in a new era, is also pretty trivial. But as soon as you change the pointwork it gets hard.
