Hullo all, I’m endeavouring to write up a series of relevant rules, regs and instructions for a fictional railway line, and was wondering if anyone happens to have a PDF (or hard copy they’d be willing to make into a PDF) of any Signal Box Special Instructions from around 1960 that they’d be willing to share? Or knows of anywhere I may be able to see some. Many thanks in advance! Log in to reply |

If you can get to Crewe, I suspect Exeter West will have a set you can peruse. They tended to be very abbreviated, referring to Rule Book and Block Reg instructions. For instance, St Albans South has the very cryptic instruction that "The requirements of Block Regulation 7A must be complied with before..." can't remember the exact wording, but it refers to accpeting a train/clearing the signal for something ont eh down slow to terminate in the up slow platform). That little sentence basically says you have to block back inside (2-4 bell signal), with all the attendant process & instructions. It means some quite complex working can be fited in to a very short document. Hope that's useful. Log in to reply |
