Last year the RAIB issued a report on a near miss at Dock Lane UWC - Report 08/2017.

On page 26 there's a view of the signalling display at Saxmundham, which controls the relevant area. I have a few questions about this.

I assume the small R at the foot of signals 2027 and CO614R simply indicate that it's a repeater/distant.

What are the rectangular symbols labelled 2007, 2011 to 2014, and CO614R, plus the unlabelled ones either side of Melton? Why do some have stems and some not? Why are some red and black and others white? Is there a significance to the blue numbers?

What's the strange thing numbered 2015? It seems to have an A button, implying it's a bidirectional signal!

Incidentally, comparing with figure 5 I don't think that this is showing a section occupied by a train. Or, rather, they've covered over the red track circuit with that yellow and red dashes pattern: a very close look reveals the red underneath.

Any answers appreciated.

The red boxes appear to be stop boards- see this photo of Melton: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-melton-railway-station-on-the-49-mile-east-suffolk-branch-line-running-62484378.html, and this photo of Woodbridge station: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-train-leaving-woodbridge-railway-station-platform-on-east-suffolk-54929007.html shows a stop board numbered ES2013. I would assume the yellow ones are reflective fixed distant boards?

Could 2011 and 2012 have a reminder applied to them?

2027R and CO614R are both distant signals (Ie cannot show a stop aspect)

2013 etc are stop boards. 2014R etc are fixed distant boards.

Blue numbers tell you the signal is TPWS fitted.

2015 is some sort of slot, or acceptance control.

2011 and 2012 have reminder appliances on them.

The red and orange has been photoshopped on to show the occupied portion.

2015 is a directional control for the single line section. Note this is an MCS workstation detail screen which is subtly different from the pseudo-IECC layouts Simsig players are used to.
